Jessica Irwin is a Maritime Archaeologist for the Maritime Research Division of SCIAA. Jessica received her M.A. in History and underwater archaeology from The University of Rhode Island in 2015. She also has a certificate in GIS focusing in archaeology. Jessica is the manager of the Charleston field office and the education and outreach coordinator for the Maritime Research Division. Her interests are in ship construction methods, ships involved in the slave trade, site formation process of modern war vessels and aircraft, remote sensing, and cartography. Prior to working with SCIAA Jessica worked with The Pensacola Light House and Museum, the San Diego Maritime Museum, The National Museum of Bermuda, and the University of Rhode island. She specializes in data base management, collections management, archaeological investigation, excavation, and conservation.
