Director of Applied Research Division
Job Summary: Leads the cultural resources consulting program for the South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology. Designs, implements, and administers cultural resources consulting projects for a variety of public and private agencies through the state. Sets program goals and objectives. Advocates on behalf of program staff. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of laws and regulations regarding the protection and managements of cultural resources. Provides feedback to SCIAA head and participates in SCIAA planning sessions along with other program coordinators and division directors.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree and 5 years relevant program experience, or bachelor’s degree and 7 years relevant program experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of archaeological techniques, southeastern archaeology, computers, artifact identification and classification. Knowledge of State and Federal cultural resources laws and regulations.
