Public Administration

Public service is a noble calling, and the master of public administration prepares you with the managerial and analytical skills you need to ethically and effectively serve an increasingly diverse public in government agencies, nonprofit groups or other public affairs organizations. The Masters of Public Administration program (MPA) at the University of South Carolina seeks to educate students to meet the growing demand for professionally-trained public administrators in the public and non-profit sectors.

Graduates from our program currently work in all levels of government, non-profit organizations and the private sector.

Graduate: M.P.A.

Primarily administered by core political science faculty in our College of Arts and Sciences, the Master of Public Administration curriculum is designed to produce broadly trained public servants with a passion for the public good. Through teaching, research, service activities and other initiatives, the goal is to improve the understanding and practice of public affairs in South Carolina, the nation and across borders.

On average, slightly more than half of M.P.A. students are already employed, and the internship program prepares the other half of students for rewarding careers in public service. For more specialized professional training in your area of interest, there is also a dual degree programs with law and with public health.
